Earlier this week, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith informed fans that a member of the TDE roster would drop a project before the week’s end. Fans had little to no idea that it would be Kendrick Lamar. So, who do we have to thank for this surprise drop? It appears that the credit goes to NBA superstar Lebron James. In February, he directed a tweet to Kendrick Lamar and encouraging him to release his untitled tracks.
Rihanna released her music video for “Work” f. Drake. A music video is a short film that combines both song and visuals. Music videos became popular in the 80’s and during that time MTV (Music Television) based their channel around music videos. There are two short films in the music video (below). The first versions of “Work” is directed by Julien Christian Lutz (known as: Director X), a Toronto native who is of Trinidadian decent. The second version is credited to Tim Erem, a Swedish director who is known for working with Tove Lo and Major Lazer.
A ‘DM’ (dee-em) is short for ‘direct message’. Direct messaging can be done through Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a business oriented social networking platform and is primarily used for professional networking. The company has over 400 million users and the website is available in 24 different languages. Now, that’s a lot of direct messages (DM). As I was browsing my LinkedIn feed, I came across Tom “Boyder” Boyd’s song called, “Down in the LinkedIn”. This song is a parody from Yo Gotti’s song called, “Down in the DM”.
